Brian Nahed's Bio:

Dr. Brian Nahed is a neurosurgeon at the Massachusetts General Hospital who specializes in Brain Tumors (Glioblastoma, Low Grade and High Grade Gliomas, Meningiomas, Metastatic Brain Tumors) and Spinal Disorders. Dr. Brian Nahed is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Pappas Center for Neurooncology. He specializes in brain tumors requiring intraoperative mapping leading to maximal removal of tumor while minimizing any risks to the patient. Dr. Brian Nahed also runs a translational research lab which developed the first blood based test to diagnose brain tumor cells in the blood of patients. Dr. Nahed and his coprinciple investigator Dr. Shannon Stott run a lab to translate this into the first clinical tool to be able to diagnose and monitor patients with a blood test. Dr. Brian Nahed serves as the Associate Program Director for the Neurosurgery Residency Program at MGH.  His interest in in neurosurgical teaching and advancing systems based practices to delivery better and more cost-effective care to patients. In addition, Dr. Nahed serves on several national committees at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Association of American Neurological Surgeons, and the Council for State Neurological Societies. Dr Brian Nahed serves as a neurotrauma consultant for the National Football League (NFL) as well.
